At the primary school in the project area, the lack of an English teacher means that students do not have the opportunity to learn English, unlike at the secondary level. This results in primary school students having difficulty in learning Advanced English when they move up to secondary school. Therefore, we run a Basic English project for primary school students to supplement their knowledge and help them succeed in their studies.

Learning English through watching YouTube video.

“Our English Language Project helps primary school students to prepare for their further studies and succeed in their education. We hope that our project will also alleviate their living conditions and improve their quality.   Join together for their prosperity. Your support means a lot and is essential for their success

At the Motherland Cambodia Education Center, we arranged a group of 6 girls and another group of 6 boys to join an English language course through watching YouTube videos.  We did it as we wanted to know how much more about what interests them. Through their online learning journey, the students are likely to expand their vocabularies by understanding nuances of conversations in a new language, as well hearing different accents from native speakers around the world.  We noticed that they might also explore cultural references that will help broaden how they interact with others who do not share their home culture or background knowledge.  Additionally, by creating oral exercises such as presentations or debates on various topics based on lectures encountered during video sessions, this group is sure to have a rewarding experience when it comes time for them to communicate both verbally and written in English.

Practical English Conversation

At the Motherland Cambodia Education Center (MLC), the teachers implement the English Language Course Conversation Practical, which is designed to help students improve their spoken language and conversational fluency in the English language. The course covers topics such as grammar, pronunciation, conversations on familiar everyday topics. In addition, this practical session allows students to interact with each other in a friendly environment to build their confidence when having real world conversations.  MLC has been implementing the English Language Project for a Better Life, which the project is a core one of CCAFO Educational Program.  We take this opportunity to thank our funding partners and communities as well as other stakeholders for supporting our program.
