Hong Kong Baptist University-A New Partnership in Action-Day 2

On May 28, 2025, we proudly marked the second day of our collaborative efforts between students and faculty from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), Cambodian local volunteers, and the team at the Motherland Cambodia Education Center (MLC). The day was filled with energetic and impactful educational activities designed to introduce important science and environmental concepts to local children in a hands-on, engaging way.
The group was divided into two teaching teams, each focusing on a different but complementary theme. Team One led a session exploring natural weather phenomena. Through interactive demonstrations and discussions, the children learned about rain, lightning, wind, clouds, and snow. The team also introduced everyday items such as fans and lights, guiding students to understand how energy powers these tools and how they relate to what they observe in their daily lives.
Team Two focused on the impact of harmful energy sources. They raised awareness about pollutants like gasoline and plastic, explaining how these materials contribute to environmental damage and air pollution. In contrast, the team explained the benefits of clean electricity, how it works, and its role in improving quality of life. The session helped students better understand the importance of sustainable energy and how thoughtful energy choices can protect their community and future.
Both teams designed their sessions to be interactive and child-friendly. Students were encouraged to engage in group activities, work through educational exercises using learning materials, and ask questions. This hands-on approach not only made the sessions fun and memorable but also deepened students’ understanding of complex concepts in a way that feels relevant and accessible to their everyday lives.
Overall, today’s achievement reflects the power of partnership across borders, and the shared commitment to empowering young minds through education. The collaborative energy, dedication, and creativity shown by both the HKBU team and our local volunteers have made a lasting impression , not only on the students, but also on the communities we aim to serve.
