Hong Kong Baptist University-A New Partnership in Action-Day 2
Hong Kong Baptist University Partnership Builds Momentum
On May 28, 2025, we proudly celebrated the second day of collaboration between students and faculty from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), Cambodian local volunteers, and the team at the Motherland Cambodia Education Center (MLC). The program was filled with energetic activities that introduced science and environmental concepts to local children in a hands-on and engaging way.
The group was divided into two teaching teams. First, Team One explored natural weather phenomena. Through demonstrations and discussions, the children learned about rain, lightning, wind, clouds, and snow. The team also introduced everyday items such as fans and lights. In doing so, they guided students to understand how energy powers these tools and how this relates to what they see in daily life.
Meanwhile, Team Two focused on the impact of harmful energy sources. They raised awareness about pollutants like gasoline and plastic, explaining how these contribute to environmental damage and air pollution. In contrast, the team showed the benefits of clean electricity, how it works, and its role in improving quality of life. As a result, students gained a clearer picture of sustainable energy and how wise choices can protect their community and future.
Both teams designed their sessions to be interactive and child-friendly. Students joined group activities, worked with learning materials, and asked questions. This hands-on approach not only made learning fun but also deepened their understanding of complex ideas in a way that felt relevant and accessible.
In the end, the day’s success showed the strength of partnership across borders and a shared commitment to education. The dedication and creativity of both the HKBU team and local volunteers left a lasting impact on the children and the wider community.
